TWO YEARS

ON THE ROAD

HELLO, NICE OF YOU TO DROP BY. Meet Happy Family in a Van; mum, dad, daughter and son. In July 2019 we left our apartment in Gothenburg behind and moved in to our camper van. The mission? Traveling round Europe for two years, snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding, skiing and anything we could think of. Due to the current Covid-19 situation we had to cut it short, move to Åre ski resort, sold our van, bought a Hymer GCS 4x4 and made new future vanlife plans.

Stay tuned and follow us at social media and of course we would be thrilled if you have time to check out our blog/vlog.

WE DO NOT AIM TO BE THE BEST OR TOUGHEST. But we do believe in doing as much as we can together as a family. Our passion is all about enjoying the nature, the mountains and the ocean in every thinkable way. Our mission is never about climbing the highest mountain, snowboard the steepest slope, surfing the biggest wave or running the longest trail (if we don't want to of course). It’s simply about challenges that is enjoyable for those who perform them, making the most out of an active small kids family life and hoping to pass on our love for nature to our kids. It would also be super cool if our project and lifestyle maybe can inspire more people to pursue their passions.

IDA BRITZÉN, 42 years old, social worker and therapist with a passion for culture, maps, forests and mountains. Growing up in an inveterate orienteering family, camping and outdoor life became a natural feature in Ida’s life. She has always loved physical movement in its many different forms and competed at elite level in orienteering. Ida has completed various ”Swedish classics” such as Vasaloppet and Lidingöloppet but also finished top five in tougher challenges like Ten Island Swimrun. Her interest for skiing, randonee, bodysurfing and skateboarding has grown bigger in recent years and naturally complete her strong passion for nature and outdoor life.

ANDRÉ BRITZÉN, 43 years old, ski patrol and river guide, who prefers sliding through life sideways. Started skiing, snowboarding and skateboarding early in life, André is a true board enthusiast with ocean and mountains as his biggest passion. Graduated in Sports Management (Surfing Studies) at Southern Cross University in Australia, is a level one surf instructor and has paddled across Sweden in a kayak. In recent years, the interest for the river, hiking and splitboarding has grown bigger. The list of completed challenges is solid with challenges such as Vasaloppet, various swimruns and OCR races. The last one with several podium places.

NOA-LO BRITZÉN, our 9 year old girl who sparkles with joy, has tons of energy and is a natural born skier. She was 3 years when we left Gothenburg and moved into the van. For 1,5 years she truly did grow in age, but also in her personality, spending her days on the mountain, in the ocean or simply playing with kids with different nationalities on playgrounds/campsites round Europe. When she is not dreaming of becoming a music artist, she is skiing and snowboarding in the forests on our home mountain or surfing the warmer waters in France.

ODD BRITZÉN, 6 years old and the youngest in our family. He was only 6 months when we left Gothenburg and started our vanlife so he has basically spent half his life on the road, maybe that's why a home or fixed point is important for him and he did really see our van as his home, laughing every time he came close to it and is now super stoked for our Hymer GGS 4x4 camper van! Odd brings so much joy into our lives, fully energetic, loves animals and really enjoys "the-side-way-life" on snowboards, skateboards and surfboards. Future looks promising says dad.

KAYA & MORRYS, tagged along on our 2 year's mission but unfortunately they both passed away in november 2019, may the rest in peace. Kaya was 12 years old when she accidentally ate poison and died after just 3 hours. Then we found out that our cat Morrys had cancer and he died shortly after.
