Life is not always happy...

This year have been mostly a total blast so far BUT our family also had encountered some speed bumps on the this year's route for happiness and one of the major where absolutely when our dog Kaya was close to pass away in July.

Now two months later we can't describe in words what a total happiness it is to see Kaya enjoying the early autumn Swedish forests! We owe it all to the best veterinary ever at Blå Stjärnans Djursjukhus in Gothenburg, namely Michael Brückner. Kaya spent 11 days fighting for her life after they removed a piece of her lung that had collapsed and after that she had internal bleedings that they couldn't really find any reason for but Michael Brückner didn't let it go, he tried everything in his way to come up with a solution, poped up on his spare time when not working, just to check how it was with Kaya (and André, sleeping outside on the parking in our car every night, couldn't let Kaya go...) and finally he convinced the head veterinary to let Kaya come home and letting me empty her drain every fourth hour, 24 hours a day.
After about one week with this at home (and lots of medication!), the internal bleedings finally slowly decreased and Michael could remove the drain and we could start to wish for her to get better. To be honest, we were not convinced that that would be the case and when people asked us we said:
If she gets another 6 months of living, it was worth it...
BUT we where so wrong! Now we can see the future much brighter and would bet that she can easily live 2 years more even though she's pushing 10 years old in April next spring.
It was also rewarded to hear from the vets at Blå Stjärnan's animal hospital, that Kaya was so vital for her age, having a lot of muscles and a vigorous body despite her age and arthritis in pretty mush every bone and vertebra. They said they could see that she's always have been walking with out a leash and getting good food and exercise =)
We'll crossing our fingers that she will be with us for a couple of more years!
Note: today it is the 11th of March 2018, we're checking back at this blog post, making an update. Now, more than 8 months later, Kaya is still vital, we wen't for a walk in the forest yesterday for two hours, so it was totally so much worth it!
André and Kaya outside the veterinary clinic, one hour before her major surgery, not knowing it we'll ever see her again...
